Offering 'eclectic modern European cuisine' severnshed housed in a former boathouse built in 1843 by cigar chomping engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel offers lunch and dinner, plus a relaxed and rather swanky bar in the evenings.
We visited for lunch, opting for the ?7.77 deal, which includes a starter and main from a select group of dishes.
We opted for the duck noodle salad and sardines, both were swiftly polished off. The fresh bread with balsamic vinegar was also appreciated by all.
The mains were a little less admired. The thai vegetable curry was overpowered by the curry paste with the wontons a little 'greasy' - The chicken and bacon salad had a pre-prepared feel to it, the chicken was cold and a little dry as a dish overall .
The fish and chips was petite but tasty.
* service note - our jug of water did not arrive, so we repeated our request. The butter dish looked like it had been previoulsy used. Dishes looked a bit grubby - certainly not sparkling.
